My name is Daniel Brett and I'm a composer, accompanist and private music teacher. As an accompanist I've been fortunate to work with large groups of young people at events such as the Preston Schools' Music Festival, the 'Taste of Morland' singing weekend and the annual 'Morland Chorister's Camp' which has given me experience in what sort of music is suitable for, and enjoyed by children.
As a composer one of my first performed works was for an orchestra of young musicians which was great fun to write, and since then I've composed works for youth string orchestras, wind ensembles and choirs of varying levels.
I was very fortunate to work as assistant composer on the Lancashire Sinfonietta's education project in 2005, and in 2007 the Sinfonietta approached me again, commissioning two pieces to be performed as part of their education project 'Carnival' in 2008. The pieces will be premiered in their orchestrated form at a large interactive concert involving 2000 school children from across the area, a dancer, rap artist, african percussionists, and the wonderful musicians from the Lancashire Sinfonietta. Please see www.lancs-sinf.com for more information.
I'm an avid singer, pianist and trumpet player and whilst I'm classically trained, I enjoy composing music in a wide variety of different styles. Above all I think music should be fun and want to bring my love of music to as many people as possible.
